WINE & FOOD FESTIVAL COMES TO THE APPLE BARN

Bennington VT - The Apple Barn's popular Wine & Cheese Festival has been transformed into a gourmet food extravaganza featuring foods produced in Southern Vermont. This unique event is the first such food festival in Vermont and promises to be a favorite in the company's entertainment season that starts in August and runs through the fall with free children's programming every weekend.

The weekend opens on Saturday September 10 with a free performance of Brisky the Magic Clown who promises to make children of all ages laugh with his antics and jokes. With his mini cars and balloons Brisky has been entertaining children for years spreading his magic over the Capital Region and the Northeast. Armed with a Bachelor of Smiles Brisky performs between 1 pm and 3 pm performance is his first appearance in Bennington.
On Sunday from 10 am until 5 pm the Apple Barn's wine and gourmet food festival features Southern Vermont's gourmet food manufacturers including Taylor Farms Gouda cheese Mad House Munchies Ridgeway Farms venison sausage and snack sticks Izzy all-natural sparkling juice and Helvi's barbeque pork chicken and ribs. John Williamson of State Line Farm will be on hand with a special demonstration on how to make sorghum syrup. Back by popular demand are Cabot Creamery cheese as well as Sugarbush Farm cheese. In addition North River Winery will be on hand for a tasting of its award-winning wines. The event also features the Apple Barn's own line of gourmet products including
mustards salsa and relishes. A minimum $2 donation goes to the Second Chance Animal Shelter.

Bennington VT - Magician BJ Hickman and the Vermont Institute of Natural Science take the stage at The Apple Barn & Country Bakeshop the weekend of September 17/18 during the Third Annual Scout Jamboree weekend.

Part of its continuing series of free children's programming this fall; BJ Hickman appears in his only performance in Vermont on Saturday at 1 pm. This unique magician is a master of the double take and his performance includes dazzling deceptions; mind-reading miracles and audience participation; promising to entertain children of all ages. On Sunday at 1:30 pm birds of prey begin gathering at The Apple Barn; thanks to the Vermont Institute of Natural Science. This Raptor Encounter includes live falcons; hawks and owls for an unforgettable; first-hand experience with these great birds which inspire an intimate sense of connection to the wild. Touchable artifacts and hands-on materials round out the encounter for a special learning experience.

FAIRIES MAGIC TAKE OVER THE APPLE BARN

Bennington VT - The weekend of September 24/25 features the magic of fairies as No Strings Marionettes and Mr. Twisty offer two special performances for children of all ages as part of this fall's season of free children's programming offered by The Apple Barn & Country Bake Shop. The Apple Barn is again teaming up with the Second Chance Animal Shelter to hold a three-hour adopt-a-thon on Saturday September 24 between Noon and 3 pm.

Fairies will flit around the Apple Barn on Saturday at 1 pm as No Strings' original production weaves an abundance of fairie lore into a charming wistful performance of Field of Fairies. This magical story is the tale of a little girl who dreams of becoming a world renowned scientist and archeologist in the Land of the Fairie. While friends make fun of her she grows a garden of plants historically used to attract the fairie folk. Then on Halloween Isabelle prepares to fulfill her dream as a neighbor boy a technological genius prepares a lesson for Isabelle using a fake fairie. Sanjeev wants Isabelle to stop making a fool of herself. However a chance encounter sends the pair reeling headlong into an adventure in an enchanted parallel world - the land of the fairie. This mix of music motion and marionette artistry reveal fascinating information about fairies as they discuss the delicate balance between nature and technology.
On Sunday at 1 pm the magic continues with Mr. Twisty's Super Silly Magic Show mixture of slapstick comedy awesome magic and goofy charm. Having performed throughout New England Mr. Twisty promises a magical good time.

Bowie spins out his interactive magic show & balloon sculpting exhibition between 1 and 3 pm at the Apple Barn. Using trickery and comedy Bowie entertains children of all ages and creates fantastic balloon animals for children of all ages.

holiday weekend the Apple Barn & Country Bake Shop one of the most popular fall
entertainment events entertains on Sunday as Fall Foliage Fooleries dance in and
around the barn.

On Sunday October 9 between 11 am and 3 pm Fall Foliage Fooleries will perform We're Just Leafin' Around as they weave their way around the popular venue their bright fall-colored giant leaf costumes complementing the dramatic display of the surrounding mountains. The four-member troupe will whirl and twirl focusing on entertaining visiting children by being generally silly and trying to avoid Mr. Rake.
The festivities continue on Columbus Day October 10 when Brisky the Magic Clown returns for his second performance during the Apple Barn's fall entertainment season. Brisky promises to make children of all ages laugh with his antics and jokes.
